Astrological associations of gemstones vary enormously. I will offer my list of sun sign attributes associated with crystals, but before doing so I’d like to explain a few points regarding astrology.         The most important issue is that we are not just our Sun sign. Far from it. We have our feminine Moon to take into consideration, and then fiery Mars and loving Venus, as well as chatting mercury and bouncy Jupiter. Then there is the austerity of Saturn, the unpredictability of Uranus, the dreaminess of Neptune and the raw sexuality of Pluto. We are whole people with many facets, and as a professional astrologer, I often find that individuals resonate much more strongly with a different sign than their Sun sign.
       For example, one man who was a Capricorn had five planets, including his Sun, in his fourth house, which is ruled by Cancer, and therefore presented many more Cancerian traits than he did Capricorn. His ego identity was Strong, earthy and determined, as with any Capricorn, yet his nature was mellowed, soft and caring due to his full fourth house influence.
      The ascendant, or rising sign, in a birth chart is also a strong factor. Very often people will go through phases of living entirely through their ascendant, especially during childhood, when starting new projects and going through major changes, as the ascendant rules all beginnings in life.
        So how do you choose which crystals and gemstones are best to have around you without consulting an expert astrologer? Firstly I always say “If it feels good, then go for it”. Let your gut instinct choose; go for the colour or feel of a crystal, or piece of jewellery, purely because your eyes rest on it first or your fingers are lured towards it.
